I found out yesterday, via email, that my request to present a paper at the upcoming gathering of the Society for the Study of Theology in Utrecht, the Netherlands, has been accepted. I am very excited about presenting at the first conference I've ever attended...and also a little scared.
I'm working off the assumption that it's a brief paper, only 20 minutes of talking, so it shouldn't be too hard, I hope. My paper will bring together the idea of the dramaturg's sensibility for the cultivation of the whole of an experience with Jesus' invitation to Peter to 'feed my sheep,' an invitation I hear as 'nurture my community.' One way for the Christian community to be nurtured is through experiencing God in the drama of biblical encounter.
This is the direction I'll be heading in. I hope I get there, or close enough. I can't wait to present!
I was intrigued by your post. I've studied dramaturgy and dramaturged for several years. What caught me was the phrase "dramaturgical sensibility." I just wrote a book with these words in the title. I am excited to see its application in your area of thought. Congratulations on the acceptance of your paper.
